Letters to Evie // TWO YEARS!

Sweet Evie,

Happy birthday! You're two years old today and I'm still in denial about it.

I don't even know how to begin this letter. You're so many things and a letter can never do them justice.

You're nurturing. EVERYTHING is a baby. You like to "nurse" your stuffed animals (the kitty too a few times). You even pretended your toothbrush was your baby a few nights ago.

You're kind. Mara is your favorite person and you take such good care of her. If she cries you rush to comfort her. Every morning when she wakes up you run to her bed, peek over the top and yell "HI!" in your sweetest, most enthusiastic voice.

You're smart. You add new words to your vocabulary constantly. Colors and numbers are our newest project. You're constantly surprising me.

This stage may be my favorite yet; you're full of adventure and passion and wonder. We aren't to the "why, why, why, why" phase yet (which I'm grateful for), but you're always exploring and testing- sometimes too far, but that comes with the territory.

You've changed so much this year- from babyhood to toddler in 12 short months. Don't let me forget to soak it all in ok?

My biggest fear as a parent isn't that I'll make mistakes or lead you in the wrong directions, it's that I'll miss out on the tiny moments. I tear up thinking that you'll never be this small again- but with the bittersweet comes an amazing change to live in the moment. To soak in all of your snuggles and temper tantrums and new words- that's my job as a mama.

I'm so thankful that I get to be the one to cuddle you and rock you before bed and hold your tiny hands. I'm so glad that we get to watch Finding Nemo together and learn your colors and where the sun is.

You changed my life and made me a better person.

I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always,

Mama
