Myssy Farmi || From Farm to Fashion
I'm morally against beginning a conversation by musing on the weather, but for this one, I might have to break my moral code. Because it's the beginning of June, in midwestern USA, and this outfit is one I actually wore outside. The next day I was at the beach in a swimsuit, but that's beside the point. I've put away the majority of my cold weather wardrobe, but there are a few pieces I've left out for "freak" weather days like the one we had a few days ago. And my beanie from Myssy is at the top of that list.
There are a thousand reasons why I love this beanie, but let's start with the story behind the brand because it's been a while since I've heard one that resonated so fully with me.
Myssy Farmi is a Finnish brand specializing in hand-knitted beanies and accessories. But it get's even better from their. Their beanies are all knitted on a 100% organic farm, by local grannies who get together once a month to create some woolen magic. They use hand-washed wool from the farm's own Finsheep, who are known for the softness of their wool, which contains lanolin, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
With the motto "we believe things are done better slowly," the home-y, community minded, organic feeling Myssy exudes is fascinating to me and endlessly inspiring.
Although they have many styles to choose from, I decided on a beanie from their In the Woods collection. However, they also have children's sizes, scarves, hoods, and other products to choose from as well.
The beanie is soft, and unlike other brands I've tried, doesn't feel scratchy on my head after a long day of wearing it.
It might be almost Summer in the states, but if you're in the market for a beautiful, handmade beanie for summertime bon fires and camping trips, or if you're planning ahead for next Winter, Myssy is an amazing example of slow fashion that is so worth supporting.
