How We Soul || Sharing Beauty From Start To Finish

The true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives.
The passion that she knows.
— Audrey Hepburn

As an influencer in the ethical fashion space, I have the unique chance to interact with the founders, designers, and creative minds behind the brands I showcase on SL&Co. It's a much deeper process than agreeing to work with a brand because they have "ethical" scrawled on their homepage. Instead, I get to personally ask questions, vet the brand's practices, and dig deeper into the heart behind each brand I write about to make sure they fit my own personal values and are something I think you, my readers, will support too.

As subjective as ethical fashion is, having a firm grasp of each brand's ethics is hugely important to me. I've been following along with How We Soul's journey for a while now and, I have to say, each time they release a new product, share a new photo, or interact with their community, I'm more and more impressed.

Their belief that true beauty stems from the soul flows into each step of their production process, from the environmental impact to the social impact to the beauty of the women who wear their pieces.

After getting to know Tasha, the sweet CEO, mastermind, mama, dreamer, and founder behind How We Soul, I'm convinced that her passion for celebrating beauty in the small things is what makes the brand so great.

An encourager herself, each of her designs are meant to give the women who wear them confidence, whether it's at the gym or to a board meeting. It's funny, don't you think, how something as simple as a beautifully made, well-fitting pair of leggings or crop top can make you feel ready to take on the world.

How We Soul started out making leggings with patterns versatile enough to take you anywhere, and have recently added the striped crop top (probably my most worn piece this summer) to their inventory.

The beauty of How We Soul isn't just in their finished products, though. Tasha ensures that every step of the process is as beautiful as the leggings themselves. First, the fabric is made of eco-poly, which is made from recycled materials, uses up to 70% less water, heat, and energy to produce, and is much better for your skin than the chemicals in regular polyester.

Their pieces are sourced, cut and sewn in a factory in Montreal, (further reducing the carbon footprint) where the employees are paid higher than minimum wage, receive paid breaks, and paid internships. They recycle when they can and donate excess to local inner-city shelters. See? Beauty right from the beginning.

And it doesn't end there either.

When you buy from HWS, a portion of each sale goes to fund the Botswana Orphan Project, providing day-care and preschool to orphans and vulnerable children.

How We Soul is one of those brands that I just can't stop supporting and after you take a peek at their gorgeous designs and (hopefully) try one for yourself, I know you'll feel the same way.
