Plaine Products || Zero Waste Products for the Whole Family

*This post is post one in a three-part series featuring Plain Products*

I've been on my trek towards a more natural, healthy, ethical lifestyle for several years now and when it comes to my hair, I've learned to be picky. I've tried almost every "natural" method for taking care of your hair on the market. Shampoo bars? Yep. Sulfate/paraben/chemical-free? Of course. The "no-poo method" where you let your hair "adjust" to it's natural oils and then cleanse it with baking soda and apple cider vinegar, like, once a month? Oh yes.

I've been feeling a bit burn out on the whole "healthy hair" thing and wasn't sure there was an actual product on the market that I felt good about. When I said I was picky, I meant it. I wanted all-natural ingredients that would actually help my color treated hair, not damage it. I wanted recycle-packaging that wouldn't end up in a landfill. I wanted to not smell like I walked out of a perfume shop.

Too picky? Maybe. But when I came across Plaine Products, I couldn't help feeling like my quest for natural hair care had finally met its match.

It might be tricky to tell exactly what makes Plaine Product's different from others from a photo, but let me tell you, the list of what makes these products different from other's I've tried is a long one. But, if you've got a few minutes, sit back and let me explain why this shampoo, conditioner, and body wash has given me hope for the future of eco-friendly body care products.

Packaging:

Plaine Products may not use biodegradable or easily recycleable packaging, but their products are in fact 100% zero waste. Each of their products come in a sturdy aluminum bottle, with a pump for easy use. Why aluminum? Because when you're finished with one bottle, you simply send them back and get a refill from the lovely ladies at Plaine.

Yep. It's a subscription service for your hair and I can't handle how logical, eco-friendly, and awesome it all is. Using their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash eliminates the use of single-use plastics, which in turn, greatly reduces the amount of waste that ends up in a landfill.

Ingredients:

Even though environmental impact is extremely important, to me, what I'm putting in and on my body is even more of a weighty matter. I've been working for years to cut all chemicals from my beauty regimen, and so naturally, I'm especially picky about what I use to wash my hair.

Plaine Products uses only natural, vegan ingredients (that you can actually pronounce) in their products. They're free of sulphates, parabens, and phthalates and use mostly plant-based ingredients that actually work. If you're curious, you can see a full list of their ingredients on their website.

Does it work?

My first hesitation with using the shampoo and conditioner was that it would leave my hair feeling greasy after a day or two. I hate washing my hair everyday and since it's quite long, try to avoid overwashing it. I was so surprised with how phenomenally well Plain Product's shampoo and conditioner cleans my hair and leaves it feeling clean and natural for three (or maybe even four, on a really good day) days.

The body wash, that comes in the same scent as the shampoo and conditioner (mint + eucalyptus) is just as effective and can even be used to shave my legs (which is rare for a body wash, since I tend to have really sensitive skin).

The best part?

Even better than the environmental impact and natural ingredients? My entire family loves it. The ingredients are safe for my littles, doesn't sting their eyes, and foams up beautifully for bubble baths (the only way to do bathtime, right?)

The smell is simply fresh and clean, not overly feminine or masculine, which means my husband even loves it.

After finding a product that truly checks every item off my list, I'm going to be subscribing to their refills for a long, long time.
