Basics for Him + Her — LNBF
You all know my love of basics (I even published a list of my favorites here), but you know who loves basics even more than I do? My husband.
AJ is picky about his non-work clothes, and tends to keep pieces for YEARS, until they are worn bare, when he finds something he loves. Whenever we find a brand that checks boxes in each of his important wardrobe categories (fit, price, sustainability, and comfort), he’s hooked for life.
Today, I’m excited to (re)introduce you to a brand that’s topped his charts in all of the categories and has been on my list for a while. If anyone has been around long enough to remember my first collaboration with this much-loved basics brand, you’re my new best friend. I’ve been a fan of LNBF (short for “Leave Nothing but Footprints”) for three or four years. In that time, I’ve had the chance to try out several of their pieces and each time, I fall in love with the quality and the versatility. AJ and I were so thrilled to add some essentials to our closets for the summer.
I wish I could bundle up some of this cozy, stretchy, buttery-soft fabric and attach it here for you to feel — it’s that soft. Thick, but breathable. Soft, but not silk. Casual, but endlessly versatile.
LNBF uses earth-friendly fabrics for their collections; primarily organic bamboo, organic cotton, and tencel. Each piece is sourced and sewn in the same region and then shipped to their Toronto studio to eliminate the typical carbon footprint of multiple sourcing locations.
Here’s a peek at what we chose from their current collection:
His
AJ is wearing LNBF’s Noah Long Sleeve Henly and their Huron V-Neck. Both pieces are made from Viscose — a fabric derived from the bamboo plant. I’ve written in detail about this fabric on my guide to textiles and although it has its downsides like most fabrics do, the quality and longevity of the fabric is unparalleled. They’re both so soft that I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I’ve stolen them both for bedtime more often than he’d like.
Hers
I’m wearing their Ren Jumpsuit and the June Baby-Doll dress, both similarly made from Viscose and dyed using Oeko-Tex 100 certified dyes. They feel even softer than they look. I was excited to fill a gap in my wardrobe for a jumpsuit that wasn’t tencel or linen and the babydoll dress is the perfect neutral and feminine piece for summer. I can picture it just as easily on a beach with a sunhat as I can with a baby strapped to me in the mountains. These pieces are truly as versatile and comfortable as it gets.
I’ll let you in on a little secret — brands that I “re-collaborate” with are ones that I truly admire, respect, and wear often. They’re the ones who have continued to show up, grow and evolve as a sustainable company, and live up to my similarly evolving standards. LNBF is one that I’ll happily recommend over and over to anyone who is in the market for timeless yet modern (and sustainably-made) basics.
